The final Saturday fixture of the season for the year 13s saw MGS put in a brave performance against a strong RGS Lancaster side. Although MGS took the lead through a close range Dan Adams try after another text book catch and drive RGS edged a fairly brutal first half hour. Both teams defended well on a small pitch and space seemed to be at a premium. The game turned in a crazy 2 minute period in which after an unbelievable defensive effort on our own try line RGS managed to bundle themselves over in the corner and then straight from the kick off scored again as we failed to compete for an excellent kick off from Ben Simpson. The ref blew immediately for half time and we were unlucky to be 17-7 down.

The second half remained very competitive and even throughout with both teams creating good scoring opportunities. However, It was RGS that capitalised on an unfortunate yellow card to Ben Simpson with a catch and drive score to move 22-5 in front. Although that’s how the game finished MGS played outstanding attacking rugby, worked tirelessly at the breakdown and in defence really rattled RGS. The boys should be proud of the way they stuck to the task and with a little more good fortune this game could have gone their way.
