On: Saturday, 21 Sep 2019
Venue: Away

Rossall School U13A 5 - Manchester Grammar U13B 4

An early start for the team as we met at 7:45 to get on the coach. Quite a long journey to Rossall School. MGS couldn't have made a worse start as we conceded a goal almost straight from the kick-off. However, moments later luck was on our side, or should I say extreme wind, as MGS scored directly from a superb Nathaniel S corner a few minutes later to leave the scores level at one a piece. The first half was pretty much like tennis going back and forth with MGS looking dangerous in the final third with some good link up play between Ibrahim K and Abilash K with the latter scoring on his debut to give MGS a lead. Ibrahim K rifled in a left footed shot from the edge of the box and then he added another to put MGS in a commanding position going into half time. Score : MGS 4:2 Rossall.

After some half-time substitutions, MGS struggled to settle in the second half despite Ibrahim K sealing his hat trick. More defensive errors left MGS on the back foot as Rossall made a remarkable comeback to get the scores level at 5-5 going into the final few minutes. With both teams pushing for a winner, Rossall won a corner and brought pretty much everyone in the box. This time, the conditions played into their hands as the ball swirled around in the wind and landed directly into the net for what would surely be the winning goal in the match. An unfortunate way to lose a match, the final score ended with MGS 5:6 Rossall.
