Match Report
The Manchester Grammar School 2nd XV vs  Lymm High School
On: Saturday, 07 Dec 2019
Venue: Away

Tommy bags a brace or two.

Anyone lucky enough to be on the lower pitches at Lymm RFC this Saturday was treated to an early Christmas Cracker as two evenly matched teams fought a hard game with the result in the balance until the final play. Lymm 2nd XV only had 13 players but remarkably we had 17 so Dobbs and Barnish agreed to play for the opposition to make it 15 a side. Tommy Archer bagged a brace in the first half and Lymm replied with 2 tries of their own but with no recognisable kicker we were 14 - 10 down at the break.

We swapped Dobbs and Barnish for Lynott and Donnelly. The boys desperately wanted to play against Monaghan but he was throwing in to the leaping salmon that was Primrose. Lymm scored twice in the first 7 minutes and we were 26 - 10 down and looking like the losing side. Lymm's discipline let them down a bit and we made full advantage of the penalties and got ourselves back in the game. Tommy bagged another brace and And and Johnson also crossed the whitewash. Monaghan stepped up and managed 2 conversions to give us a close 34 - 33 victory.

Hooker put in some great hits this week. Some of them were against players in possession of the ball. Lymm cried "late tackle" but to be fair to him, he got there as quick as he could. Tommy gets this week's MoM for his 4 try performance but probably just needs another game at 2nd team level before returning to the 1sts.
