The Manchester Grammar School Boys-U15B vs  Shrewsbury School
On: Saturday, 16 Nov 2019
Venue: Away

MGS played in a 433 formation and attacked and played a very high line from the start. The first goal came when MGS played out from the back Ellis took the ball on the turn played it into the feet of Bilal Sharif who turned and played a through ball to Rafay Manzoor who slotted it under the keeper. About halfway through the first half we conceded a penalty when one of our midfield players handball in the area to conceding a penalty. The Shrewsbury taker smashed it above the crossbar. Play went by with a solid MGS defence and we won a free kick in the opponent’s half, James Clift floated a ball into an offside Bilal Sharif who half volleyed it into the back of the net and the goal was allowed.

In the second half MGS conceded a scruffy goal but were determined to get a two-goal cushion back. So, we pushed forward and a ball was played out wide to Joe who played a diagonal ball across to Rafay who did his job.

With a last minute sliding tackle timed perfectly by MGS to stop a potential goal scoring opportunity the game was won.
