Match Report
The Manchester Grammar School 1st XI vs  Shrewsbury School
On: Saturday, 16 Nov 2019
Venue: at Home

The game began on a cold winters day in November. Shrewsbury started fast with a high press on MGS’s back four. With a perfect ball from Smyth the deadlock was broken. Joe ran in between the two central defenders and managed to slot the ball past the goalkeeper with his left foot. Shrewsbury were quick to react and with a good passage of play managed to slip the ball in behind Bundred and Chapman to equalise the game. As the whistle was blown for half time MGS were burnt out because of Shrewsbury’s quick football and ability to control possession. The second half started slowly but once again the deadlock was broken, this time it was a corner that the Shrewsbury defender managed to get his head to making the game 2-1. From this point Shrewsbury managed to kill the game off and successfully held out for the victory.
