Match Report
The Manchester Grammar School 1st XV vs  Cheadle Hulme School
On: Saturday, 23 Nov 2019
Venue: at Home

This was a truly fantastic team performance particular as it came after the disappointment of weds cup loss. Cheadle came with high hopes a very strong team and in fine form.
After a hectic start with both teams pushing for the opening score it was mgs that got on the score sheet first with Hamaad Sharif being on the end of a well executed catch and drive.
Cheadle responded well with a close range try of their own before Haeden Johnson produced a moment of magic to score in the corner to restore the lead.
Cheadle again capitalised on some poor tackling to level the scores before Ollie Hill again broke through on his trademark T Ball and unselfishly put Alfie Meir under the posts for a text book score. Cheadle again levelled up at 21-21 going into the final period but then two quick Ollie Hill tries, the second without doubt the try of the season so far, put some space between the two teams. Although Cheadle scored again to close the gap Goethe Arnold scores from close range and Ben Simpson rounded off an excellent performance with a score from the last play. His exceptional goal kicking (6 from 7 attempts) gave him a personal 17points.
Cheadle were a quality side extremely physical and caused us lots of problems but the way the boys played, their desire and hunger to shake off Weds disappointment and put in a good performance really shone through.
