Super Sub Giovanni to the Rescue

A strange game, played on a square pitch, that kicked-off an hour late, looked like descending into a scrappy affair and penalties, until Giovanni, a half-time substitute stepped up and eased MGS into the next round of the Plate.

Webb teased and tormented the Moorside defenders, but failed to convert his trickiness and chances to goals. Guy Stewart and Livingston dominated the flanks, ably assisted by the foraging runs of Carter, and Zak Stewart ran central midfield. Yet, no goals game.

Moorside seemed content letting the game drift to penalties, as they became increasingly tired, but Giovanni decided enough was enough. His first was a sweet back-post finish from a good Webb square pass. The second was similar, finishing sharply from a Livingston cross.

The Plate is a very achievable goal - so on to Round 3 and Chorlton High.
