Match Report
The Manchester Grammar School 1st XV vs  Merchant Taylors' School, Crosby
On: Wednesday, 28 Nov 2018
Venue: Away

Having lost two previous encounters this season against Merchants by only 2 points on each occasion this was always going to be another tight affair. Merchants struck first from close range after a sustained period of play on the MGS try line, but the scores were soon level after a smart try from Ollie Hill. Tries were exchanged again over a period of play where neither team could take any real control to leave it 17-17 at half time.

There was an ebb and flow to the whole game. Travis Blood scored an excellent poachers try with 15 mins remaining but again MT came back to tie things up 24-24. Finally an opportunity to win it with a penalty bang in front with 5 mins left. Sam Frank made no mistake and there was no frantic finish this week as the team managed the final few minutes well to hold on for victory and earn another excellent win. This puts themselves into the Lancashire Cup Final on 30th January.
