Match Report
The Manchester Grammar School Boys-U13A vs  Merchant Taylors' School, Crosby
On: Saturday, 09 Feb 2019
Venue: Away

The wind doth blow, but the U13As stay strong.

This wasn't a game for the fans, nor even a game for the purists, as a cruel wind swept across the Liverpool coastline disrupting any semblance of a proper football contest.

Into the wind in the first half, MGS played well. The tricky Webb, dipped and ducked between defenders and was unfortunate when he lobbed the goalkeeper only to see the wind hold the ball up and drift his effort on to the post. The powerful centre forward Brown crashed a half volley on the post from good Slim & Livingston work down the right; whilst stand-in left-back Guy Stewart gave the left side excellent balance.

Scoreless at half-time into the wind was probably equivalent to being two goals ahead, and although, it took time, MGS scored three with the wind behind as Merchant Taylors' failed to get out of their own half. Livingston grabbed two, one direct from a corner and the other from a neat Guy Stewart pass; the third was an unfortunate own-goal, a pass back that gathered pace on the wind and whipped in under MT''s goalkeeper.

Still, nice to finish half-term with a win and a record that keeps improving.
