Match Report
The Manchester Grammar School Boys-U13A vs  Queen Ethelburga's
On: Saturday, 12 Jan 2019
Venue: at Home

Goals, goals, goals. Whatever Manchester City can do the U13As can surpass, or at least so it was this week.

It was a strange game, where the scoreline was not flattering to MGS but Queen Ethelburga's weren't as bad as it suggests. Instead a disorganised defence and stand-in goalkeeper contributed to the majority of the difference between the teams.

Indeed, MGS played well. Three players scored hat-tricks, including the impish Jacob Wright, outstanding with the ball at his feet. Ally Livingston as ever was an impressive threat down the right and contributed to a goal-of-the-season contender. To describe it, the dominant Schweiger won the ball in his own half in the right channel. He played it forward to Livingston in the air who flicked it with his heel to George Vardon who controlled the ball and clipped it back into Livingston's path over their left-back. A first time Livingston cross found Wright on the edge of the area and he shot powerfully over the goalkeeper. Total football.

That's now 10 wins in the season, ahead of last year's 9, with a game less played so steady progress from the lads and encouragingly the team keeps getting better.
