Match Report
The Manchester Grammar School Boys-U14B vs  Shrewsbury School
On: Saturday, 10 Nov 2018
Venue: Away

MGS started their late travel to Shrewsbury and arrived for an early afternoon kick off. We had confidence from our away game at Repton, but we know it wouldn’t be easy.

We started off very well, one of our best starts ever in fact. We were passing the ball well and were looking like a very strong side. The first goal came when Joe Travis threaded a nice through ball to Dele, who slotted it in very well. The next goal came very quickly as Ikechi put the ball through the keepers legs. After this we kept on playing nice football. Then the chance came, James Clift with a longshot after good battling in the middle. Soon after Will Bashford pulled off some amazing skill, which resulted him putting the ball in the back of the net.

Half time soon came and our excellent performance did not change. We kept on knocking on the door and another 4 great goal came, courtesy of Will, Bilal and Dele. After a great defensive performance from Patrick, Cristian, Eoin and Mumin, we came towards the last minutes of the game. In the dying minutes, Joe Butler-Smith played an excellent lofted pass to James, who was playing a surprise forward position, who headed it down, took on a man and slotted it in for the best goal of the game.

The game finished 9-0 and special mentions go to Joe Travis for his 4 assists and Christian who was an unsung hero, fighting at the back. However, the Man of the match went to Patrick for his fantastic attacking and defensive play and created chances all game.
