Match Report
The Manchester Grammar School Boys-U18B vs  St. Bede's College
On: Saturday, 06 Oct 2018
Venue: Away

For the first 10 minutes our opposition pressed us relentlessly and attacked our goal constantly. However, after that hard start to the game MGS dominated. Our breakthrough goal came through halfway through the first half with Zach Smyth controlling a cross with his first touch and then curling it in the top corner from the corner of the box. Our domination continued, and a second goal came again from Zach who latched on to the end of a cross and with a first-time volley put it between the keeper’s legs. George Valentine made it 3-0 by converting from a corner we continued to hold possession until the half time whistle.

Once again in the first 10 minutes of the second half St. Bede's came out pressing high up the pitch but the MGS defence managed to hold out. But St Bede's managed to pull one back with about 15 minutes to go. Josh Harrison was a menace as a target man upfront but unfortunately was unable to capitalize. St Bede's piled on the pressure and after a goal line clearance from Jack Chapman they brought it back to 3-2 after a good through ball that released their striker. However, MGS managed to hold on to get the win.
