The Manchester Grammar School Boys-U14A vs  West Hill School
On: Wednesday, 26 Sep 2018
Venue: at Home

MGS lined up against West Hill having played them in the final of the Shrewsbury and we just beat them on pens. Luckily for MGS, West Hill were missing their best player who was a threat during the final against them. MGS started the brightly of the two sides as we comfortably kept the ball and Xavier, the MGS keeper was not tested early on. After a positive start, Jamie Barlow played the ball to Josh Trickett who switched it to Louie Jacobson and play continued down the right sight then, a ball in, fell to Oliver Critchely at the edge of the box and he had a shot and scored a superb goal and the keeper could not get near it! A few minutes later, MGS pressed the West Hill back line very well and they made a mistake by giving the ball away and Theo Wong capitalised on the mistake and smashed it into the very corner of the net. With the MGS midfielders working very hard, it continued to be a scrappy game and West Hill struggled to get full control of possession. The first half finished with MGS 2-0 in a tight game.

With the wing backs swapped at half time, MGS took a while to get full possession with some poor decisions and passes. However with some good play down the left by Ross Livingstone, the ball was put inside then a great ball over the top by Theo Wong, was latched onto and headed into the corner of the net by Harry Smith. With about 20 minutes to go, West Hill continued to attack however with some good defending by Josh Trickett and Louie Jacobson they were kept out. With everyone playing well, the final score was MGS 3-0 West Hill.
