Match Report
The Manchester Grammar School Boys-U14A vs  Bolton School
On: Saturday, 24 Sep 2022
Venue: at Home

With it being the third match of the season, it was key for us to secure a second win after the defeat agaisnt a strong Merchant Taylor team. Although, in the first half we took a lead of two tries despite Bolton having a large percentage of the play and luckily not taking advantage of the number of penalties we gave away. There were strong attacking runs from Harvey Bird and Ben Rosenthal and some positional kicking from our captain Harvey Millen. In the second half, Bolton dominated possession causing us to defend our line and on several occasions we were able to avoid Bolton getting over our line and scoring a try. Despite a good defensive show by us Bolton were able to score their first try causing it to be a tighter game for the last part of the game. After a break by Ben Rosenthal from our half the pressure of the game got the better of Ben to question the ref’s decision after already being warned this then led to him being given a yellow card. In the dying moments of play after a miss play from Bolton, we got a penalty on our five which we stupidly decided to kick to touch. When the lineout was taken the nerves got the better of us causing a drop ball and Bolton to receive a try. We got lucky in the end when Bolton missed the conversion.
